Well it was on display, as evidenced by the fact that a well-respected Caps blogger and community member witnessed it and posted it. There were little kids around, and we are better than that. Clip on and spring steel clip systems have been improved. Getting chirped for being an away fan is one thing. Hearing slurs tossed at you for being an away fan which has happened to me, and made me feel unsafe or at your team that just happen to insult you is a different story. That is an area the sports culture could improve.
I'm very satisfied with Parts Geek. Nobody was being obnoxious, and the banter back and forth was all good natured. Next time you see that shit. Yet, upon reflection you can see how little thought goes into simple comments similar to what I had said. It may not have punch, but it gets your point across.
Yeah not exactly a good idea to provoke and further rile up a group of drunk assholes that out number you. Hey, you seem like a totally worthless human. They were asking for it. I also agree that since they are wearing Caps gear and it is outside the Verizon Center it casts a bit of a bad light on all Caps fans. He was pretty taken aback, and subsequently apologized to me, blaming it on being drunk. Have the Flyer fans merged on to the Caps?!?!? Great article from my favorite blog that I found interesting because of the race and gender dynamics in my work as a public historian.
